Shift 2 introduced engine swapping, a modification where the whole engine of the car gets replaced with another, more powerful or power capable engine from another car. that has a matching size. This is not new, as Tokyo Xtreme Racers 3 introduced engine swapping after driving a certain mileage in 2003. Then it caught more attention in Tokyo Drift when the Mustang gets an engine swap with a Skyline GT-R R34 engine. Anyways, here are the list of cars I have that are able to swap engines, and what engine is it able to be swapped with. All of these are from what I have in my tini-wini garage:

However, the Audi R8's engine may say it's from an Audi R8 LMS, it is originally from a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640-4, which explains it's exhaust note. Sadly, it has been renamed somehow in the latest patch. Hopefully a patch can correct this with an exhaust note correction OR a text edit.




I hope that wicken could help a lot with this list. He bought all DLC's so far, including the Legends pack that I heard also has engine swappable cars, and also bought the vehicle time-saver pack. Now go on and daydream that your car will have that engine.

Rotary 3 is from RX8

BTW I got the DLC and boy quite a few of the legends have swappable engines!

Will take some time for those....

No, it was mentioned that the RX-8 had incorrect engine data (Renesis is still a two rotor engine).

Only 3-rotor Wankel Mazda(20B-REW) has ever built was used in 1st gen Cosmo and 767. RX-8 has a 1.3l 2-rotor(13B-MSP) /fanboyrant

A pity that they haven't given an option to swap for a 4-rotor...
