Okay, so I'd like some help on getting a new laptop but I'm not sure what to get. My current laptop is a bit old actually but it is still decent for gaming and working. :)

Budget: $1100 or lower

I have considered getting a desktop but I favor laptops primarily because of their portability.

now some people will say go for Alienware. I will disagree with them coz according to me MSI gaming laptops are the best right now. Just have a look, you will see a range of gaming laptops, each with different price.

i won't be much help here, but I would recommend getting a build-your-own desktop instead of a laptop. A gaming laptop is a lie in its name since the gaming part of the laptop gets outdated and slow really fast.

Not so long ago I was in your position to try and find myself a laptop to buy but my budget was a bit lower than yours and ended up buying a acer aspire 5755g with a Intel i5 2.4 ghz (turbo boost up to 3.0 ghz), 8gigs of ram, a nvida geforce gt540m video card with 2g dedicated memory and a 750 hdd for less than 600 euros. So far I am very pleased with it, I can run any game but not all on maxed settings. The only thing that I don't like about it is that when I play some demanding games it heats up a lot but that is normal for a gaming laptop. Considering your budget I will recommend you trying to get a i7 processor with a nvidia gtx series graphics card. Also I wold suggest you considering getting a desktop instead of a laptop because you will get a lot more for your money but that depends on what you want.

I have an Alienware M11x, don't expect World to run Maximum though, but it handles High settings very well at 60fps.
However I think playing around with driver update changes causes the overclock settings to reset  because nowadays my game only runs well if the air vent has a lot of gap to suck it in to.
Oh and the gap is sadly placed underneath the laptop. Pretty darn silly if you ask me.

Maybe you can take a look at MSi's gaming series laptops. If you're not okay with Chinese tech (even though it's from the Kuomintang area, Taiwan), then you should look at the US-only Sager laptops.
